2. “Acting black”…it’s interesting to note that we have all probably heard blacks mention “stay black” or he’s not being “black enough”. This didn’t start with white people however it’s a perception issue with both my white and black friends and associates that stems from the statistics that are presented to us by our government (the government which includes a black president elected into office by white people as well I might add)… For instance, look at the graduation rates in inner city schools…this is a huge problem that continues to spiral out of control: Education gives one FREEDOM…unfortunately a vast amount of youth do not wish to assert themselves and thus become part of the perception which in turn results in as the AUTHOR WROTE (not speaking proper English, being loud and obnoxious in public places, doing crappy in school, and spending most of the day running from the cops, and snacking on government cheese.) As she states in her article, she made the choice to complete her education and become a productive asset of society which I commend her for. The choice is available to anyone who desires to embrace it.

3. Moving on…usage of the word “ghetto” is a phrase that the younger generation has embraced as slang not unlike “ho’s”, “pimp” etc…doesn’t mean it’s okay however it is common among the youth today.

Even in 2012, People are so sensitive over the issue of race in America. We are all not going anywhere so it would behoove everyone to think positive and strive to move forward from this antiquated thought process instead of dwelling on the negatives…
